Changes!
School is over (which means the end of Carly’s leave, but the start of mine), summer is here, and our bags are (mostly) packed. Tomorrow we’ll be catching a ride to the airport, and then changing continents for the next several weeks. Of course, August has been changing a lot, too.
We will see many of you shortly. Until then, here are several videos from the past few days to show you how August is changing:
Here’s a new game that gets a big laugh from him:
Here he is waking up and calmly entertaining himself by talking to the mobile:
Here he is getting more violent with the letters (remember when we used to have fragile paper cranes there):
Playing with his sun, star, and moon (I think he is left handed):
‘Reading’ his crinkly book about triangles:
And admiring his new outfit (a gift from a parent at school):
See you soon!
Daily Walks
August and I went on a walk most days during my maternity leave. This was our route for the last few weeks. It’s my favorite because of all the trees. (Click on the image.)
Teething!
Well, the beginning stage…

3!
Happy 3 months, August. We love you!
More sounds
Both from yesterday. Howling:
And having a conversation with Carly:
First time in the crib
He has slept in bed with us to this point, but given since his arms are getting longer and he’s doing a better job of escaping his swaddle, he’s started to wake us (well, mainly Carly) up with a jab to the face.
so we’re trying out the crib. So far, so good. We’ll see how it works through the night:

With Logan in the park
This was a couple weekends ago. It was August’s first real interaction with another baby, although Logan, who was born in December, was doing most of the interacting.

An eventful Saturday
What an eventful and memorable day it was. I started it with my book club meeting, but that was just the beginning.
First, August has a new sound:
He didn’t crawl, but he figured out he could stretch out his arm and get the letters he was going for:
But then he decided to just suck on his arm, which gave him a bit of a hickey:

And we went to Hyehwa with our friend Megan where she and I played whack-a-mole:

And August got to be held by Megan in the pho restaurant:
After which we went to the Arko art gallery and saw our first show of comic book art:

Back at home he played in the crib for the first time and loved it:
And in the early evening we went for a nice walk by the power plant with him in the carrier, which he also loved:

We realized we’re going to need to take him to the airport in it, so we need to get him used to it. Luckily, he is now big enough to fit in it, and he handled it really well. We thought he was going to sleep, but he stayed awake almost the whole time, mainly looking up at the trees and sky. He finally fell asleep (after also walking through the park and going to the grocery store) as we got back to our building. I was easily able to take him out of the carrier and put him on the bed without waking him up – something Carly found difficult with the Moby wrap.
