He was up a bit after 8. Lots of cuddling with Carly. Played with Colin and the cars a bit. Not sure if he had cereal in the morning. They did water balloons with Carly outside, and she helped them build a fort in the bedroom. He and Vivian played in it for a while, then ended up plying Dragonbox Big Numbers. I made a big fruit and veggie plate again, this time with apples, raspberries, blueberries, and carrots.
I went and took a shower. When I came out, Vivian was still playing on his iPad. August and Colin were jumping off the back of the couch, onto the cushions. August got out the yoga mat and lay on it, then Colin came over and he was holding Colin up with his feet. He said “It’s a holding up Colin mat!” They kept joking about it as August added pillows to the mat.
Cassie was home from the grocery store at 11:10 with a helium balloon for each of them. They played with those a lot. They had leftover pizza for lunch, then disappeared. They were sitting on the floor outside of Vivian’s room, watching Inspector Gadget.
We got ready to go (and I had gotten a lot of work in) and left a little after 1. We drove to Klein Farm. First went down to the ponies. They collected food from the ground and mainly fed the ponies. August found a quarter in one of the machines, and later used it to get food out of the machine for Colin. That was very nice. He had been calling it his “emergency quarter”. We walked down and saw the cows again. Vivian was focused on them peeing and pooping. Seemed even smellier than usual, so I snuck back to a bench until they were done down there.
Eventually we went up and got ice cream. I got a pack of cookies instead. August and Vivian both had the toffee flavor, Colin the wintergreen because it was green. He was pretty messy, and August said “A lovely mess I love to watch him make.” He also said “ This is egg-celent…I made an egg pun.” He knew several “Time to make my egg-scape…That was egg-streme…This is egg-scrutiating.” Think they were all from Inspector Gadget. I got in the game, and August liked ones like She doesn’t like our yolks. Is this farm-iliar? That’s dairy observant of you. I shell-dom don’t know where your jokes come from.
They then played on the playground for a few minutes. Colin kept saying “All aboard!” the ship. August randomly asked “If you call 911, can you have them send all three at once?” ‘Dispatcher’ was a word of the day.
We were back to the house at 3:45. Colin was playing math app and didn’t want help when the other kids were trying to help him. August and Vivian were making a plan to make a dollar by selling stuff. They ended up making a bookmark factory and made a sign to advertise it. I was working on the couch, then went and bought two of them.
They ate dinner outside, then were on the trampoline. August got upset with Colin and hit him in there. A bit later, Carly and Cassie and August and Vivian played Monopoly Junior out on the picnic table. August only wanted to play with unlimited money, and started to get stressed out about having to pay money at some point before remembering he could get more.
They then did more fireworks with Jeff. They were chasing big army men that came down on parachutes. This was a hard one for Colin. He wasn’t fast enough to get to the first one, so Jeff got it for him. Colin had wanted to do it himself, and was really upset. They did three of those, then did regular fireworks. Jeff was cutting them open when they were done so they could see what was on the inside.
They came inside and he ate some toast and nectarine. Except he wouldn’t eat the red part in the middle so I would bite it out. He asked “What are handcuffs?” (Maybe from Inspector Gadget?) Vivian got a toy set to show him, and he asked me to look up a photo of a real pair. Jeff heard and asked if we really wanted to buy handcuffs, as he said someone has a pair for sale. The key was missing, but it is a universal key and he’s sure he has an extra key around the house somewhere.
August tied his balloon to a sandal so it wouldn’t get in the fan. He then took a bath with Vivian. Her balloon wouldn’t float after getting wet and we discussed hypotheses. I had to get his balloon as well so he could do it with his. Carly went in to rest, so no tea game today. I washed him. I then lay on the lower bed with all three kids and we read Berenstain Bears and the Messy Room and the Elephant and Piggie I Will Surprise My Friend! book. Actually, Vivian read the latter. All the kids sort of gave Carly a big hug at the same time as they said good night. Colin said “No go. No go home.” I left Carly and August around 10, and he was asleep by 10:30.
